put a shitton basic info here oo somesuch
Lind serves as a main character in several series, including The Devil's Polycule and The Third Corazon.
Appearance
stuff
Lind shifts a lot between various traits of his raptor, human, and hybrid forms, and is very fluid in how he appears. Because he does have feathers, he unfortunately molts twice a year. Because no one likes seeing the raptor ear holes, during these molts, he has to wear a snood (the tube-type intended for pets, not people), which also serves to keep him warm. The vain part of him weeps for these moments, because for these spans, he knows he's ugly.
Personality
Lind is an incredibly warm and personable man. Easy to get along with, he blends himself into the spaces he occupies—quieting around others when called for, or becoming downright riotous when surrounded by those in a good mood. An excellent read of others, this comes incredibly easily. Though not a people-pleaser, he does prefer that those around him are kept in good spirits are work well together, and thus inserts himself into situations where tension has risen, working to smooth things quickly.
With a sharp recall and attention to detail, it helps in ease in around people who are otherwise too prickly or withdrawn for others to approach. Lind is also incredibly doting on his lover/s. Because of the mix of his sociable personality, combined with the raptor’s own pack mentality, he likes to look after the others. He’s always bringing back interesting things he finds to whoever he considers his pack. (In The Devil's Polycule, he finally managed to woo Smoker because he found a rare and weird clay the man had been lusting over for ceramics.)
While very sexually open, he's quick to flirt, but just as ready to respect boundaries when they're laid down. Lind is a pervert, not a creep—there's a difference. His overall competence is also the only thing saving him from falling full-tilt into the classification of "disaster bisexual".
Family
Parents
His parents both worked in service of the nobility on their island. His father worked as a forester and game keeper, while his mother worked in the kitchens.
x (eldest brother)
With their father's retirement, [x] would inherit their father's position as game keeper.
Collart Puck (middle brother)
Puck openly resents Lind for the happy childhood he perceives the other of having, as well as the lack of direction their parents they gave to Lind, allowing him to chose anything he wanted to do as an adult, whereas Puck was enlisted into the Navy against his will. Like Lind, Puck too is eventually recruited into SWORD, though with far less gusto than his younger brother.
History
Childhood
Raised in the North Blue, in Lind's childhood, he recalled growing up without want. Even in the worst of times, his family seemed to pull through where others fumbled and faltered.
[finish this, dude]
The Naval Officers' Academy
Lind's attendance at Marineford's Officer Academy was not something he planned for. After passing through boot camp, his instructor forwarded him to the facility for better training at his skill level, instead of letting Lind coast without challenging the talent he actually had. This essentially puts him on the same level those attending on scholarships. But once in, rather than spend his early days subjected to grunt work and chore boy duties, he and the others in his year were jettisoned straight into a grueling mix of heavy coursework and specialized training. He studied everything from the variety of cultures spread across the four Blues and the Grandline, to royal legacies and laws—not to mention naval protocol. Already familar with hunting and tracking, he learned to excel under harsh conditions. Surviving with and without supplies became childsplay.
Unlike Drake, who knew his Devil Fruit on sight and was ready to throw several hands over its acquisition, when given the chance to pick one from a stockpile in the Marines, Lind had no idea what his was when he chose it. After an incident in training where Drake accidentally swallowed another cadet whole (and thankfully safely regurgitated), Lind was assigned to him as a training partner and through this, the two became close to inseperable.
SWORD
Not long after their formal graduation from the academy, Lind was approached by the director of SWORD and recruited. At the time, the group functioned almost exclusively for acts of subterfuge and regularly handled covert assassinations. Lind, a sniper of high acclaim, became their personal attack dog. This work removed Lind completely from everyone he knew, often leaving him alone in the field for months at a time as he bounced from mission to mission. Forced to act solo for so long, this work became incredibly damaging to both Lind and his zoan’s mental health.
The Revolutionary Army
It was on a mission for SWORD that led Lind to chase a member of the Revolutionary Army. What he didn't realize until staring down the scope of his rifle, was that his target—the organization's second-in-command, was actually a sixteen year old boy. In that moment, for the first time in the field, Lind missed his shot. That flinch was all Sabo needed to close the gap between them and tip the odds out of Lind's hands.
When the director of SWORD died, it took some time for his replacement to locate all the agents abroad. When his call finally reached Lind, he had no idea the sniper had devoted himself entirely to the RA's cause. Lind, aware that his position in SWORD could net the RA intel it couldn't otherwise glean, returned to duty as a double agent. The new director, aware of Lind's former friendship with Drake, asked Lind to serve under Drake's crew—a chance Lind jumped at, eager to reconnect with the man.
Lind & the Utahraptor
Identity and Overlap
While Lind's gender expression and body align, he has no hang-ups, anxieties, or apprehensions regarding gender at all. This works well between he and his ancient counterpart, because his Utahraptor is a gynomorph. Though whether it meant it used the trait as an advantage in mating strategy is a mystery, because it's not talking. While technically male, it has no strong strong feelings about the concept of gender at all, up to the point of having no preference at all for what others refer to it as.
A curious side effect of Devil Fruit zoans combining with their human counterparts is the sharing of information that occurs between them. As the sides communicate, the creature can gain full human-level sapience, the pair can share dreams while unconscious, and depending on how well the pair mesh, can sort through one another’s conscious thoughts and memories, acting less like a tug-of-war for control and more like a truly effective two-person team. Lind and the Utahraptor exemplify a near-perfected bond, effortlessly communicating and sharing knowledge, to the point that Lind has allowed the Utahraptor to front in situations within the Revolutionary Army, communicating its thoughts firsthan and arguing its points with a series of learned hand signs.
Senses & Abilities
As a pair, between the skills of both, it makes Lind an excellent mimic and the Utahraptor even better. Regardless of who is fronting, they can imitate almost anything they've heard, including the voices of their lovers (much to their annoyance).
In their vein, Lind has signature call sounds he makes for each of his lovers. Seen most extensively in The Devil's Polycule—Sabo’s, born of necessity in the field, is a nearly silent infrasonic rumble. Drake’s is an imitation of the man's Allosaurid rumble. Law’s sounds are the barks and clicks of a leopard seal. Ace's are loud and quick clicks, and trills. Smoker’s resembles Drake’s callsound, but just a little higher in pitch. Koby’s are specifically dolphin clicks. Page has a more breathy, crocodile-like hiss. When left to his own devices, in moments where making noise won't jeopardize his actions, he often strings them together in a lyrical looping "song" as he works. When in social situations, he never holds himself or the raptor back vocally, resulting in a wide range of sounds that just fall out of him on reflex—from cough-like barks for warnings, to amused trills and clicks.
Unlike Drake's narrow set binocular field of vision, Lind's is wide and sharp, complimenting his skills as a sniper.
An enhanced sense of smell is a nightmare for someone like Drake, already fielding a host of sensory issues. For Lind, however, while he can use his strengthened sense to track enemies, in peacetime, he mostly uses it to help instill a sense of safety through familiar scents. However (across multiple 'verses), this leads to an ever-increasing number of laundry thefts. If your dirty clothes are missing and you're important to Lind, it's very likely he's moved them into a hard-to-reach space where he's made himself a nest. Every 2-3 weeks, these nests have to be found and emptied to keep folks from having to go nude before ship laundry day.
Size
How big was a Utahraptor, anyway? Estimates can swing pretty wildly, but following Drake's lead and skewing larger-than-normal, Lind is just shy of thirty feet long, making him, while smaller than Drake, still frighteningly large. While one would imagine his tail more rigid, he seems to have willed far more flexibility into his spine, making it far easier to curl up in small spaces...like his little cabin on the Liberal Hind, where a wholeass dinosaur should NOT be able to fit, and yet...
Genital Reconfiguration
When Lind begins borrowing parts from the Utahraptor, either to partially or fully hybridize, one of the changes is a retractible penis. A trait shared by many reptiles, as well as some birds—when he’s ready to be randy, with a simple muscular contraction, he can unsheathe it and scare everyone else in the room. Like his trait-sharing counterparts, there is no flaccid state, it’s always ready to go. When aroused, it does plump a tiny bit and sensitivity heightens more so than usual. Unlike Drake's knotting phallus, Lind's does not and is slightly smaller. Making up for that, he has two! Like lizards and crocs, they work one at a time, but if he throws some real effort into it, he can pop both out at the same time.
His slit (—or vent, technically. Sort of.) doesn’t self-lubricate. That would be silly. He does however, for whatever reason, like Drake, produce a wacky amount of pre-come when wielding his fancy dino dongles, and that works just as well for anyone trying to finger his hot pocket. And while it might fry his brain some, his refractory period is pretty much non-existent when wearing these traits. Leave it to a predator to fuck hard, fuck fast, and fuck plenty.

Pheromones
Each zoan is a little different, so the function can change from person to person. For Lind, his Utahraptor's function to maintain cohesion and peace within its chose pack. Unlike Drake's Allosaurus, which initiates a feedback loop with receptive partners, the pheromones of Lind's Utahraptor are more of a one-way street and function to calm parties in the vicinity and help enable cooperation. In a wilderness setting, this would make a pack better bonded and more suited for a technically challenging hunt. On an enclosed battleship, it makes people less stir-crazy from being stuck on the high seas.
Not unlike any other chemical sensitivity, some people react more severely to the pheromonal release. In Smoker for example, like being allergic to one specific type of animal, Lind's pheromones miss their mark as a calming agent and actually trigger an embarassingly incredibly strong arousal response from the man.
Lind's pheromones are often described as having a light powdery scent to them.
Notes
- He's named for the Flemish privateer Jacob Collaart, and the mythological lindworm.
- His birthday is June 11th, the US release date for the movie Jurassic Park.
- His hobbies are bird watching and studying geology in the field.
- Favorite food is grilled eel. Least favorite food is pork.
- He's also terrified of octopuses and can't stand the way they move especially when one ends up on deck accidentally. Traveling undersea once coated in Sabaody was a nightmare for him.
- In the Officers' Adacemy at Marineford, Lind brewed booze in his footlocker and passed it around on campus...up until it exploded and took out part of a wall.
